We’re Pretty Sure Josh Burkman Really Didn’t Throw a Fight, Guys

Sometimes humor doesn’t come across via the interwebz. God knows that has gotten me into trouble quite a few times in the past. In fact, it gets me into trouble all of the damned time. It’s probably not my fault, it’s probably just the medium, right?

Earlier today Josh Burkman made a joke to an upset Ben Askren that he threw his fight to Steve Carl in order to get his release from WSoF and to enter the UFC. Askren pointed out that it kind of made no sense for Burkman to go from losing to Steve Carl in WSoF to fighting a top ranked UFC fighter while Askren himself was told that his Bellator pedigree simply wasn’t enough to get him into the UFC.

The MMA twitterverse didn’t exactly know how to process this and I’m afraid that they prematurely shot their wad on what was supposed to be a dry run if you will, so they have something of a mess on their hands.
