Watch Houston Alexander take his giant hematoma and headbutt Virgil Zwicker

Bellator just put a perfect example of sanctioned Street MMA into their circular cage and told Virgil Zwicker and Houston Alexander to pretend that their stats are turned to zero and you can only spam strikes and takedowns. Blocking was not allowed tonight at Bellator 129, and this lack of defense led to one of the most awful and entertaining fights we’ve seen in a long time. Yes, this fight was Street MMA in a cage, no it wasn’t Russian level, or even Brazilian. This was kind of like fifteen minutes of Canadian Street MMA that took place immediately after finishing a breakfast that only someone with the name ‘Flo’ could serve. It was so bad it was good. That’s something that rarely happens in MMA.

It came to a point where the referee didn’t even acknowledge a dozen elbows to the back of Alexander’s head, which led Alexander to frustration that manifested itself as a giant hematoma growing out of his dome, and a headbutt.

Then the fight went to a draw?

Between this and the Kimbo Slice fight, Houston Alexander has one of the most incredible bodies of work in MMA. Houston Alexander might be the Ed Wood of MMA.
