Sadly for Shlemenko, There’s No Spinning Sh*t in Sambo

Alexander Shlemenko was on a pretty crazy tear in Bellator there for a while, then things went downhill for him after he met Tito Ortiz. Shlemenko’s signature “spinning sh*t” didn’t seem to pan out for him in that fight, which saw Ortiz land an arm triangle in the first round. That wasn’t the end of Shlemenko’s bad luck, either. Oh no. In September Shlemenko lost his Bellator Middleweight Championship to Brandon Halsey via first round rear naked choke.

If you were to ask me if there was a hole in Shlemenko’s game, I’d probably be able to point it out after a lot of silent reflection. He might be a “Master of Sports” in Russia at ARB, but when it comes down to good old American wrassling he seems to have some problems. Apparently, his problems have extended into the realm of Combat Sambo in Russia.

While a loss in Sambo isn’t the end of the world, like we saw with Fedor a few years back, it’s still kind of a bummer. This is Alexander Shlemenko just getting worked by Magomed Magomedov in Sambo and we weep for a world where Shlemenko is on a bit of a losing streak.
