Josh Barnett refers to The Avengers when asked about joining the UFC ranks

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a collection of techniques used by copywriters who include words or phrases in their writing in order to get a higher rank on Google. While this can result in dry and unimaginative copy, it can also result in creative flourishes inspired by the challenge of including relevant SEO phrases or words. Here at MiddleEasy we work the same. Certain things are always going to be picked up by the strict ocular analysis standards we apply. Any mention of Wu Tang, Mexican food, Magic: The Gathering or comic books for example, will set off our ‘rawesome’ alarms. In addition, we all have our own key words or phrases which rank specific articles, stories or interviews above others in the importance we assign to sharing them with you, the reader. Any mention of death metal for example will draw me in as if by magnetism, or magic.

The way that specific words and phrases are used to make search results more relevant to the person searching for them in SEO is exactly the same as Josh Barnett dropping MiddleEasy friendly comments in almost every single media appearance he makes. For example, when asked by the folks over at MMAWeekly Radio about the question of whether he and Daniel Cormier are UFC bound after their bout in the final of Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Tournament he responded as if he was specifically trying to get Zeus’ attention.

“It’s really unimportant. I think all the speculation is good for the people that enjoy the sport and they want to watch, and they want to be a part of that guessing game ‘what’s next’. You read a comic book and you’re always waiting for the next issue, but you’re always thinking about what happens if some of the X-Men end up fighting The Avengers, or if Iron Man left the team. That part is unavoidable.”

Of course you all know that Zeus is not only the founder of MiddleEasy but also the resident comic book nerd so Josh Barnett lacing an answer with comic book references has probably caused his relevance algorithm to explode. While he tries to rebuild it with less emphasis on comic books, let’s offer our prognostications on the whole situation. Do both Barnett and Cormier get UFC contracts regardless of the outcome of the last ever Strikeforce heavyweight bout? [source]
