JZ Cavalcante and Luis Palomino are throwing down at CFA 7 this month

I recently subscribed to a newsletter which delivers a nice little factual story to your inbox from Monday to Friday, and today’s story was about Videotex and how in 1982 the National Science Foundation predicted that by 1998, Videotex would have revolutionized the way we live. From allowing us to not only shop from home but directly control the production and manufacture of our goods from the comfort of our living room, Videotex was truly some sort of witchcraft come alive. The New York Times even predicted that Videotex would put an end to the two party political system in the US by allowing people from all over the country to contact each other with a speed previously unheard of. Of course, the advent of e-mail and cell phones put an end to the Videotex hype, like an Edson Barboza kick to the face.

Those guys at NSF must have been kicking themselves when they found out their predictions for Videotex were pretty terrible, with most people now completely oblivious to the Videotex hype. Similarly there is an army of JZ Cavalvante fans who have been proclaiming him as the next best lightweight fighter for years but his short stint in Strikeforce kind of put an end to that. Well, the JZ hype train can start again as he fights on June 30 in Florida at CFA 7 against Bellator veteran Luis Palomino. Videotex may not have been a success in itself but the NSF report did predict the rise of e-commerce, social networking, a rise in working from home and self-publishing so there is hope yet for JZ fans who have long predicted he would be a UFC champion.
