Shogun Rua roughnecked his way to a win against Brandon Vera at UFC on FOX

If Shogun Rua has a heart of a lion, then he must have the will of a subterranean kraken. So who won the Jon Bones Jones sweepstakes tonight between Lyoto Machida and Shogun Rua? If you said Dan Henderson is going to completely wreck everyone’s plans — then you could be correct. Contrary to popular belief, no one at MiddleEasy can predict the future. We’ve tried cracking open those Magic 8-Ball novelty toys and rubbing our bodies with that blue liquid that’s inside but at the end of the day, we look like friggin’ lunatics.

Shogun doesn’t care about Jon Jones, the horse he rode in on or Eddie Murphy’s couch. He also doesn’t care how your girlfriend copes with her life debilitating Shogun Rua obsession. He just wants the belt and he’s willing to do anything to get it, including returning to the Octagon to face Bones Jones once again. Tonight Shogun put on a ravenous performance against Brandon Vera. On the same token, so did Brandon Vera. From my perspective (cageside at Staples Center), if the fight lasted all five rounds Brandon Vera appeared to…as I was typing this Dana White just walked by press row and said ‘Machida, for sure’ when asked who gets the next title shot against Jon Jones. Well, I guess that question has been answered. Good night everyone, but before you go to bed be sure to pray to the MMA gods that Shogun Rua vs. Anderson Silva goes down in the near future.
