Alright, if you didn’t just watch the back and forth battle of rawsome that was the Miesha Tate and Julie Kedzie fight headlining the Strikeforce prelims on Showtime Extreme, you should be ashamed of yourself. You should be grabbed by the collar and looked at sternly, for at least seven seconds. Now straighten your shirt. Stand up straight. What were you thinking? We know you are honest with yourself, so why didn’t you do whatever was necessary to watch a fight that will obviously set up the next contender to the women’s bantamweight throne? You know what, your mother and I, we aren’t even angry. We’re just disappointed.
Miesha Tate debuted her new nickname ‘Cupcake’ tonight (how does Lloyd Woodard feel about this?!) and although she was rocked by Julie Kedzie’s badassery (mostly neat kicks and punches) in the first round, she slowly but surely turned the tide in her favor and lived up to her nickname by being aesthetically pleasing and deadly. Finally, after much back and forth, she put Kedzie in a brutal armbar in the third round and finished the fight. Is that armbar foreshadowing for what may happen later in the night? We may never know.
