No one really knows if Todd Duffee vs. Alistair Overeem will happen at Dynamite!! 2010

While I was trapped here in Amsterdam, I caught up with Martijn de Jong of Golden Glory who told me that FEG had no opponent for Alistair Overeem, but they were boarding a plane to go to Tokyo, Japan in order for Alistair to compete in Dynamite!! 2010. Traveling across the planet with no tangible reason can be considered a ballsy move for some, but when it comes to the Dutch, those guys are genetically engineered to produce more testosterone than the normal male. Jesus, what an unsubstantial scientific claim. At some point in my life, that statement is going to come back and slap me in the face, but for the time being, I’ll roll with it. Similar to how FEG is rolling with the idea of having Todd Duffee be Alistair Overeem’s opponent at Dynamite!! 2010.

The news has evolved throughout the day. At first, it was a rumor that transformed to a statement on Todd Duffee’s Facebook page with the phrase: ‘Have no plans on NYE?! Dream Dynamite 2010 : Duffee VS Overeem on HDnet!!!’. Since then, Duffee has removed the Facebook status update, yet people are still talking about the pseudo-fight announcement.

From my understanding, Bobby Lashley was pegged to be Overeem’s initial opponent a few days ago, but Lashley and FEG couldn’t agree on a monetary sum. Apparently Lashley wanted a massive payday for taking the fight on such short notice and DREAM officials just didn’t feel like shelling out the rumored six-figure payday (an amount similar to what Lashley asked from Tom Atencio to replace Josh Barnett in the failed Affliction: Trilogy fight).

It has been reported that Todd Duffee has accepted the offer to fight Alistair Overeem (mainly for the loot, cant blame him). The amount offered to Duffee is allegedly in the amount of $60,000 just to show and another undisclosed lump sum if he wins. According to Jonathan Luther, Todd Duffee is in Japan and he may run into problems obtaining a visa, which can obviously hinder the process of fighting in Japan exponentially. Nothing has officially been announced, but if Duffee can get a visa, expect an announcement from Japan’s general direction immediately.
