King Mo clears the air on Oxygate 2010

Let me preface this interview by saying MiddleEasy broke the news that a can was sprayed into someone’s mouth before and during fights at Strikeforce Houston. We found out what it was, listed the alleged benefits according to the company’s site and people now say that we are somehow in the wrong. Wow.

Today, MMAJunkie contacted the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and discovered that the oxygen cans were cleared by ringside physicians prior to the fight. What followed was a slew of elitist finger pointing aimed in our direction proclaiming that we ‘jumped the gun’ and that ‘[insert site name here] would never do that’. Look, someone sprayed a substance into their mouth that wasn’t outlined in the athletic commission’s code. We discovered it, reported it and went to bed. That’s it. Damn, where’s Bloodstain Lane when you need him…

King Mo contacted me a few hours ago to systemically destroy this Oxygate conspiracy. On a side-note, if you harbor any hate or dislike towards King Mo, you’re obviously dealing with some traumatic episode in your childhood. I can guarantee that King Mo is more personable, friendly and just an all-around better human being than your favorite fighter. The guy has friends named ‘Ace the fastest rising pimp in Dallas’ and ‘Daywalker‘. Whenever you can give your friend a seven-word nickname, then you can better understand what type of people the Plano Independent School District can produce.

Before he told us that everyone needs to ‘stop bitching and moaning about some damn oxygen can’, King Mo had this to say:

“It was just oxygen in a can, it was nothing big at all. It’s not what they have in the doctor’s office. It’s a way to focus your breathing. That’s all it is. It’s not like it’s going to give me a boost of energy. It’s just another way to control your breathing so you can stay calm and in control. You take a deep breath while it blows in your mouth. It just helped me control my heart rate. That’s it. It’s the same thing as your coach saying ‘deep breath in, deep breath out’. You’re just spraying oxygen in your mouth and you’re breathing the air. You’re already sucking air in anyway.”

“If it was such a big deal, the commission would say something.”

“It wasn’t a huge difference, it just made me feel comfortable during training so I used it. It’s a good product.

“It’s oxygen in a can, like Spaceballs.”

King Mo also said that he wasn’t paid by the company to use the product. It was just something that he used in training and, with the commission’s approval, he decided to implement it at Strikeforce Houston. Mo also said that he used the can before and during the fight. Great, now that Oxygate is over, perhaps all of you can use your investigative abilities to find out what the heck is going on here.
