If one person could sell a fight, it would be Paul Heyman. If you are unaware of Paul Heyman, he comes from the professional wrestling world. He started off as a manager who worked through various territories and promotions like the NWA, AWA and so forth before he started a revolution by booking and eventually taking over ECW. His path led him eventually to the WWE, then out of the WWE, now back, and the man is a god on the mic. He could promote anything.
Lots of us are not excited for UFC 177, it’s had a lot of problems in the lead-up, but Shayna Baszler returning to the ring against Bethe Correia and honestly, we are looking forward to this one. Correia most famously defeated Jessamyn Duke in a fight that we all kind of cringed at, but now we are looking forward to seeing what MMA vet Shayna Baszler can do when she gets into the ring with her. It’s about revenge, it’s about redemption and well, Paul Heyman sells it pretty damned well, I think. The MMA world misses Brock Lesnar, for sure, but it also misses having Paul Heyman there to sell us on stuff.
