Al Iaquinta, Rodrigo Damm and Herb Dean discuss the philosophy of the butt scoot in the Octagon

Does anyone remember the other Serra brother? We all know that Matt is Long Island’s favorite Pastaweight champion, but he’s not the only mixed martial artist of the family. Nick was also a jiu-jitsu black belt and was also a professional fighter, even making an Octagon appearance at UFC 37.5. Problem is, no one’s going to remember the “Mad Monkey” for any of that. They’re only going to remember him refusing to stand up after getting battered by Matt Makowski at EliteXC – Primetime: http://www.mmaplayground.com/forums/i/pi/230357_2.jpg

Tonight, Serra-Longo fighter “Raging” Al Iaquinta put on a striking clinic against Rodrigo Damm in Foxwoods, CT. Iaquinta tagged Damm at will, rocking him and putting him on wobbly legs. Finally, in the 3rd round, Iaquinta landed a punch right hand that floored Damm. Rather than stand up & show how hurt he was, Damm tried to pretend he wanted to be on the ground and tried to demand that Al follow him down. What followed was a comical three-person game of charades-negotiations as Herb Dean & Iaquinta tried to educate Damm on the Unified Rules of MMA. You’ve got to imagine that, in the corner, Matt Serra was having some uncomfortable flashbacks.
