Patricio Pitbull takes the Bellator belt from Pat Curran in another classic

Jimmy Smith mentioned how Pat Curran and Patricio Pitbull were heading into their 50th minute of fighting each other tonight. That means between Pat and… Pat, and Eddie Alvarez vs. Mike Chandler, Bellator has 100 minutes of the best MMA you’re likely to ever see. You really can’t deny them that. For all of the weird moments on Spikeforce, we know certain fights are going to deliver, and Pitbull vs. Curran II was one of those fights.

There was no shortage of bad blood between Curran, Pitbull and Bellator over the last 9 months or so. And it was kind of deserved. Pitbull won the featherweight tournament, then the Brazilian Pat was skipped over for a title shot so American Pat could get an instant rematch against Daniel Straus (who he lost the featherweight belt to in late 2013.

Social media drama, callouts, etc etc etc, just fight please, we know it’s going to be awesome.

And it was.

Curran vs. Pitbull II was a perfect blend of hard-hitting action, momentum changes and dramatic moments. It was a summer movie poster, and in the end, Pitbull’s journey as finally fulfilled.

Good shit, Bellator. That was one fun night of fights.

Here’s some highlights from the venerable Zprophet:
