Invicta 8 a huge success on UFC Fight Pass until the main event title fight cuts out and we miss the finish

All night I’m sitting here thinking about how happy I am to not have to navigate Ustream accounts and choppy streams to just sit back and relax with Invicta on UFC Fight Pass. We’ve loved Invicta since its inception. Shannon Knapp is one of our favorite people in the sport, and how can you go wrong with Roxy vs. La Rosa III and two (2) title fights? You can’t. That’s the answer. You can’t.

Veteran MMA fans know that Invicta consistently delivers some of the best action in the entire MMA-verse, so a reliable stream plus Invicta equals a fine Saturday night before the kickoff of the NFL season in just about any sane human’s skull.

But no, nothing ever works out, MMA Gods.

The action was fantastic all night as expected. Each lady left it all in the cage as expected of an Invicta fighter, and we had a brilliant come from behind win by Katja Kankaanpaa deep into the 5th round to claim the vacant straweight title from the clutches of Stephanie Eggink.

Then, the main event. Michelle Waterson dominated the canvas and brought out the art in martial arts. Beautiful violence painted Yasuko Tamada’s body in all shades of damage, with kicks, knees and flurries of strikes coming at the veteran judoka from all angles. It was almost over the top, it was so one-sided in Waterson’s favor.

As the third round came to a close, you could only think that a 30-24 score was on the cards through 3, but then all went black.

The stream died, then came up again, then died. And we got to find out that Michelle Waterson finally ended the fight (but didn’t knock Tamada down, supposedly) with the rare standing TKO. Yes, that’s how zombie-esque Tamada got towards the end.

And so my article goes from: Invicta – the cherry on top of UFC Fight Pass, to; Invicta 8 a huge success on UFC Fight Pass until the main event title fight cuts out and we miss the finish.

What a bummer.

I still love you though, Invicta.
