Uriah Hall goes for a ride along with the LAPD through the streets of south Los Angeles

Uriah Hall’s Training Day was nothing like the 2001 Denzel Washington film. Boom! In a more subdued ride along with the Los Angeles Police Department, the UFC middleweight visits some of the tougher areas of the city. Hall as a crime solver who catches bad guys with head kicks is not a scenario that happens on your first day on the job.

On the Southside of Los Angeles nearly 150 homicides occur in a single calendar year. With gang activity so prevalent in the subsection of LA, young kids are often the target of both gang recruitment as well as crimes. On his ride along Hall was also brought in as a guest speaker at the Sunburst Youth Challenge Academy. The city run program is part of a gang prevention curriculum aimed at minors to build their confidence, self esteem and pride.

Hall’s speech about his own struggles being bullied during his youth inspired the students at Sunburst Academy. While the students also got to sit down with Hall and inspired the middleweight contender with the obstacles they have overcome in life.  Next up for Hall is a fight with Costas Philippou UFC Fight Night 59 in January. No word on if Hall will walk to the cage while wearing sweet police shades.
