Don’t forget – Brandon Vera makes his ONE FC debut this Friday

There was a time when Brandon “The Truth” Vera was not only the hottest prospect in MMA but maybe one of the most exciting fighters in the sport. Vera began his UFC run with a 3-0 record of first round finishes. Vera was untouchable as a perfect 8-0 UFC heavyweight. Then a contract dispute coupled with back to back loses to Tim Sylvia and Fabricio Werdum closed the book on chapter one of Vera’s MMA career.

Now at the age of 37, Vera begins either chapter three or four of his MMA story. After being cut by the UFC following his loss to Ben Rothwell in August 2013, Vera hit the reset button on his pro career. A free agent, One FC presented Vera with an offer he could not refuse. Fighting in front of his parents and extended family, Vera will make his One FC debut on December 5th in the co-main event slot of One FC 23.

Of Filipino-American descent, Vera is matched up with Ukrainian heavyweight Igor Subora. One FC 23 takes place at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. Subora has stopped his last five opponents in the first round but has not competed in over a year.

Since a controversial loss to Randy Couture in November 2009, Vera is on a 1-3 and 1 no contest run of fights. If Vera has one more post fight dance move in his back pocket then fighting in the Philippines may be the catalyst that brings out the best in the Alliance MMA fighter. The truth is out there and he can now unleash soccer kicks on any One FC light heavyweight or heavyweight put in front of him.
