Reebok Inks Individual Deals with Jon Jones and Ronda Rousey

In a move that comes as no surprise to anyone, Reebok has signed individual deals with UFC stars Jon Jones and Ronda Rousey. These endorsement deals exist outside of the UFC deal with Reebok, making them two of four athletes who fight for the UFC and have a deal with Reebok outside of the UFC sponsorship deal.

In a press release issued earlier today both Jones and Rousey give boilerplate statements as to their excitement to being with Reebok and how they believe that Reebok is in the MMA business to stay. Jon Jones went from a deal with Nike to a deal with Reebok, which I’m not exactly sure where that stands in the world, to be honest.

When I think about Reebok I tend to think of high-tops from the late 80’s and early 90’s, stuff from crappy metal music videos and so on. Did you know that Axl Rose had his own signature high tops in the 90’s? That’s how I remember shoes from that period. I guess Reebok is now the official UFC sports apparel brand, so maybe in 20 years we’ll be joking about that? Maybe Jon Jones will join Axl Rose in the annals of history as having a signature high top shoe? The possibilities are endless.

Maybe someone can remake the video for Estranged featuring Jon Jones? Still talkin’ to himself while nobody’s home (…alone).
