Okay, first off – there are few mixes to a cocktail that provide better results for exciting championship fights like Alexander Gustafsson. He’s come up short twice in his two title fights, but holy hell have they been absolute wars worth watching and admiring. Tonight, Gustafsson pushed Daniel Cormier like he’s never been before. Maybe even more than even in his loss to Jon Jones. Both men, battered and bloodied refused to quit, and in that, delivered a rollercoaster ride of a fight.
The judges made it entertaining as well. We got a split decision with a 49-46 coming from one judge to give Cormier the nod. We had it 3-2 Cormier, but it was close. I’m not entirely sure about the Gus nod, but I’ll accept it so that we can wring out just a little more intensity at this UFC 192.
I think the knee that flattened Cormier is what moved Gus into controlling territory, but… *record scratch*
Wait what? Jon Jones posted an Instagram video of himself staring quietly into the camera and nodding then he deleted it?
We miss you, Jon.
