I’ll be the first to admit that the Tomb Raider games have never really been my thing. I tried them back in the day and I can’t say that I ever found them to be that interesting. I know, I know, pixelated giant breasts, a film with Angelina Jolie and all of that, but something about the series just didn’t click for me. The reboot is a game that I’ve had sitting on my hard drive for a while now and meaning to play, especially with so many people giving it huge accolades as one of the best games of the year.
I think that something has finally pushed me to give it a whirl and that something is this rather incredible fan made film that was released on the 24th on YouTube and just does everything right. I’m not joking, everything about this is what I’d want not only out of a fan made film about Lara Croft but for the series in general. The tone, the action, the way that the main female protagonist is portrayed, the whole thing is just super badass and not too much so that it isn’t believable.
Usually fan films are kind of goofy and try too hard and while this is guilty of that in a few places, it still does far too much good to be able to just write this off. I recommend you spend 20 minutes of your time watching it and then, like me, finally boot up Tomb Raider.
