Sony is looking to add PS1, 2 and 4 games to PlayStation Now

You guys remember Playstation Now, right? The service that went into beta in July but you’re still paying for it… So calling it a beta is a bit strange. It’s the service that allows you to rent games for an extended period of time and stream them over the PS4. When it initially rolled out, reviews weren’t so hot, the price scaling on it was less than ideal, some games costing up to 49.99 to rent for 3 months. Coupled with the fact that you can’t access games you already purchased on PS3, it’s understandably why people were less than ecstatic.

Well guess what? Eric Lempel VP of Sony Network Entertainment recently said “In our plans going forward we’re looking at everything so there’s the real possibility that you’ll see PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 4 titles available,” during an interview with Game Informer.

Yeah, in fact in our plans going forward we’re looking at everything so there’s the real possibility that you’ll see PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 4 titles available. Right now it’s just PlayStation 3, but these are all options for the future.

With the beta being disappointing, the service itself is cool and personally I am excited for it. Backwards compatibility is a thing of the past, for better or for worse. This is a way around it, if I could stream some PS1/PS2 games on my PS4, I’d be a happy man.
