Imagine being wrapped in a blanket of violins. Every time you had an itch, the probability of starting a symphony would drastically increase.

We all knew what Ben Askren would do tonight -- and he did it. There's a reason Askren has been on the official MiddleEasy Frate Trane list (above Cain Velasquez and Jon Jones) for over two years now. The real question is who is more dominant on the ground at 170 lbs: Georges St. Pierre or Ben Askren? Answer that question very carefully, my friend. When it comes to fighter talent, promotions mean very little.

Unfortunately Zombie Prophet simply can't make a .gif of Karl Amoussou's servitude from the ground-and-pound of Ben Askren. It would be like 650mbs -- just imagine that thing autoplaying on MiddleEasy for the rest of the night. Your internet provider would assassinate you.

most of the judoka in mma arent remotely near the level of the wrestlers in their respective sports and the judokas are usually older too... so its not a fair comparison. add in the fact that MMA has a vast majority of american fighters and wrestling is huge in america.

And my dad can kick your dad's ass. Put your money where your mouth is. Start placing your bets against him and see how much money you lose. One thing that I know we can all agree on is that we need to see Askren face the next level of competition. He is playing out his welcome in Bellatore.

Askren is an innovator and a master strategist. He is only showing us the skills he wants to show us. Watch him in BJJ tournament footage. He has a much greater BJJ skill set than he displays in the ring. He is playing a game with us and with his future opponents.

Many give Askren far too little credit as a next-level athlete. Askren almost single handedly forced a change in the dominant paradigms of American Folk-style wrestling due to his dominant application of Funk-style. Now he is walking through BJJ as if he were immune. Is he in the process of forcing a change in the application of BJJ in MMA? Time will tell. My guess is "yes."
