We're not sure if the entire MMA industry is against smoking marijuana, but we do know Singapore is. When you enter the country, you're forced to fill out an immigration form that actually states, in bright red letters, that the trafficking of drugs of any kind is punishable by death. Since 1991, over 252 people have been executed for carrying marijuana. Someone was just killed a couple years ago for having six-pounds of the green leafy substance in his apartment in Singapore. These aren't humane deaths either. People get hung in a Chinese prison for anything over a pound of weed. If someone gets caught possessing less than that, it means ten years in prison along with a minimum of twenty lashes to the back -- Django style.

It does bother me, for some reason the UFC hates people who smoke weed. The whole MMA industry for some reason hates people that smoke marijuana. I don't know why, I keep to myself for the most part. I smoke weed and I fight. Usually, I put on exciting fights or I dominate people. I always go out there and fight. It's stupid that I got fired over a plant, but other people think it's stupid that I just won't stop smoking. I quit three weeks before my fight and this is what works for me. If you were me or lived with me you'd understand. I knew it might come up one day and I thought about going to talk to a lawyer, but for now I'm just trying to figure out my next step. I'm not too worried, but at the same time I just can't sleep on it. The only good thing is the athletic commission didn't suspend me because it was a UFC administered drug test. They can't suspend me so I can fight tomorrow, but I'd fail a drug test tomorrow though so I'll wait a month or so.

We can't wait to see Matt Riddle wreck the welterweight division in Bellator's next 170 lb tournament. You know it's going to happen, folks.

Anyway, whether MMA hates fighters that smoke pot or not Matt need to realize that he may have some dependency issues.
Before everyone jumps on me about how weed is "natural" understand that Matt chose smoking grass over his career and his ability to provide for his two kids.
All legalities aside choosing a leisure time activity over your ability to provide for yourself and others is one of the first signs of addiction.

I agree with Riddle in some aspects, for one he should be allowed to smoke pot, i have a friend that smokes pot everyday has since we were 15 ( i am 21 now)and that is the last thing i would even want him to quit. it makes him a nicer person to be around it makes him more active, he was a giant kid in school 300lb+ now hes 160lb at most and ripped.

with that said marijuana will not help you heal faster, it will not help you take in oxygen when your fighting. but over all its against the rules, so in that aspect its wrong

however its shocking that people still rip on pot heads for smoking a plant, yes a plant. the arguments can be made that its a drug. sure lets call it a drug, keep in mind this drug kills no one and like a post above me made by pale, he is correct that alcohol kills far more people.

I think the marijuana metabolites really fucked fighters over who do smoke medicinal cannabis. I think they looked for THC back then only. Why don't they test for every other psychoactive drug or abusable drug. It was stated from commission that it is a PED because it help with pain relief? Why not alcohol too then, that can relieve pain.

Anyways, they should just remove it from the banned substance list and not even test for it. Doesn't enhance performance. Does it make a fighter stronger? Does it make a fighter faster? It is treating anxiety, Alzheimers, brain/breast cancer, and etc.

And it is also screwing up careers for fighters. They get fined heavy amounts (~$70k for Nick Diaz). Delay their fight license. Why not let people use Marijuana if they have anxiety problems or glaucoma. It only evens the playing field with others.
