Regardless of whether this guy can actually fight, Apy is a friggin legend in the sport and shouting at him just illustrates your lack of respect and knowledge for MMA

You guys are missing the main part. What is up with the host? "Max Rich"? Is that a name he found left over form the porn studio that films next door? That and the haircut that would identify him as "the nerd" in any teen comedy romp.
Oh yeah, Shawn is nuts. Dana will sign him to fight Kimbo and Toney in a 3-way dance.

nutcase or not - he represented a legitimate style and should be able to compete.

Totally impressed with the respect for Wing Chun here. It does seem like MMA has become a style of its own and not "Mixed Martial Arts." That sucks because I bet there are some real badasses in other Martial Arts just waiting to burst on the scene.

There are ALOT of really good Kung-Fu guys/gals and other Martial Artists out there; and there are a few reasons why most don't compete:

1. Many Chinese Martial Arts are designed for real combat-eye gouges, finger locks, throat strikes, bone-breaking, etc.
Rules of MMA limit the effectiveness many Arts.

2. To my knowledge, most Kung-Fu guys are in it for more than just fighting and have no interestest in participating in a cagefight. You don't typically get alot of "fighters" in these realms.

3. Something people need to realize- its not the Art, but the person behind the Art. In reality, any style can beat another style if one fighter is more skilled than the other (or heavier). This also applies to persons with mental disorders-if you are crazy, people will say "fuck your Wing Chun."

Another search for a youtube Wing Chun guy is: Sifu Grados. I haven't trained under him myself, but see for yourself. That dude can wreck shit. Soon enough you'll see someone bring GOOD Wing Chun into the MMA spotlight-a natural result of the very-rapid evolution of the sport's skill level and attention.

fighting is fighting and mma is fighting. These were tryouts, and in all fairness you supposed to find the best fighters, not tell them how to fight. But that is their organization so they can let who they want in.

How ironic that 2:40 somewhere probably in the tryouts a picture of Bruce Lee has been hanged up yet they were so dismisive of wing chun (Bruce Lee Art Form that he has intergrated in to his style) and showed an dedication to Mauy Thai. Both styles are effective however in my opinion they should be more open to different styles since it is mixed martial arts. Interestingly, i would like to see the tranistion of wing chun however may not be as effective perhaps some attacks have to be abandoned to fit MMA rules.
