Jake Shields knows that without Chael Sonnen bringing a little West Linn, Oregon conservatism to the 209, he could virtually abandon all hopes of defeating Georges St. Pierre at UFC 129. Last week, Shields tweeted (twatted?) that the card-carrying medical marijuana advocate, Matt LindLand, and budding Oregon politician, Chael Sonnen, will be flying to Cesar Gracie's gym in California to help him prepare for his upcoming UFC 129 title fight. Now today, we finally have visual proof -- and it appears that Sonnen's seven-month absence from MMA has enabled him to pull off a 'mean-mug' that clearly illustrates his desire to destroy every human being that ever walked on the face of the earth. GSP isn't half the wrestler Sonnen is.

I just hope Chael is half the gameplan designer GSP and Jackson are.

Chael is definitely a premiere defensive wrestler, especially when you're training for a GSP level fighter. There's really no one else you need to spar with, because Chael is that god damn good with takedowns.

Grappling is an entirely different issue, but Chael is the only god damn fighter in the UFC that knows how to properly go for a takedown.
