I don`t think the ufc is a fad, but these other sports have been around for a long long long time and are still popular. The ufc is a fresh product.

If in 20-30 years time ufc is still this popular then dana may have a point.

There's no comparison, the NFL is bigger, however I will say this......the pittsburgh steelers suck.

I would say the NFL is bigger in America but i think worldwide UFC/MMA is bigger! But to be honest it doesn't really matter which is bigger, it won't change anything for you.

Can't believe people here believe in this and are even trying to defend it. Come on...a first division (and sometimes even second too) soccer game in a third world country like Brazil makes way more views than the UFC in the entire world, and some athletes alone make more money than an entire card of fighters. When people say "on a global scale" they forget that the U.S. in a part of the world. When comparing numbers, make sure that you include the U.S. in the worldwide numbers.The UFC is probably more popular than the NFL outside of the U.S., yes, but not when looking at it worldwide. Dana is also never talking about the shitty numbers TUF has been pulling and the massive drop off of views in the big FOX cards. We need to kind of stop pretending that we have a league like the NFL with the UFC and realize that the sport is still a little too violet for the general public. Sports like ours have always been on the fringe. Not to mention that we're not 100% sport. We're half entertainment. A football team wins a game, no matter how shitty the ratings, they get to go on in the bracket. But a fighter who has no name, no image, not personality, never gets a main card slot. I mean look at the Diaz/Miller numbers, they're awful. No one knows who the guys are. No matter how we love them, the general public is still interested in show. We're half entertainment. Lesnar sucks dick but still pulls massive numbers. Hate on WWE all you want but Dana stole their formula for success and that's what we're like. We have small free shows used to advertise big pay-per-views. Time to face reality chumps.
