I get a lot of 'Dude, you spelled it wrong...it's Overeem' emails. Look, I don't know who Alistair Overeem is. I think he used to fight in Pride but I'm not sure. All I know is this guy that recently showed up in the MMA world is named 'Ubereem'. He has deltoids the size of revolutionary wars and since this Ubereem guy showed up, he's been undefeated in MMA. The only hint of a loss was in the 2009 K-1 Grand Prix where Badr Hari caught him with a strike only a guy named Badr Hari can execute. He stumbled a little bit and landed against the ropes. They ruled it as a second knockdown and he was officially out of the tournament. In MMA rules however, the result from that bout would have been drastically different.

About the episode itself i find it hard to believe that overeem actually he blieves he is the good guy in this situation. especially the scarface part "you need guys like me, bad guy... etc" seems kinda strange. no disrespect, hes a great fighter and i love to see him compete!

I think the Scarface quotes, at least from the directors point of view, is trying to reflect all the negativity that was aimed at Ubereem. How something like that has to get to you, make you upset. And how most people can get fed up and want to fire back. He's been getting flak ever since he jumped his weight up and for some haters, this validated everything. What hits home is when people high up in the fight game pretty much said he was no good. Pretty good way to show that subtle like.

yea maybe it was rly meant that way but there is another similarity between the overeem situation and the scene from the movie.. just like scarface overeem isnt taking responsibility for his actions. scarface was mad about people pointing fingers who most likely did the coke he sold and smuggled the same way MMA fans are pointing their fingers after watching his fights.

still the bottom line is if you cant handle being denunciated for selling coke you better dont sell coke or in overeems case do PEDs

Voluntarily giving up his fight and sticking out the 9 months for his reapplication to the commission seems fairly responsible and what the correct course of action should be. I will also agree that Overeem should have been more aware of what was going into his system and how that would affect any tests he had to submit to.

Still however I do not agree with the whole selling coke analogy.

oh cmon nothing about him giving up that fight had anything to do with taking repsonsibility. it was a political move to give him something to negotiate with in front of the commission. i think he knew going into that hearing that he would get suspended

taking responsibility wouldve meant to admit juicing and maybe give an explanation as to why he did it, not making up some story about a doctor injecting him testo without his knowledge.. i mean does anyone actually believe that story?

like i said before im a fan of overeem and im not just trying to hate on him but this whole PED thing has been nothing but sharades and lies.

And no taking responsibility? He says at the end that he respects the NSAC and their decision... the whole point of the hearing was to see if they would still grant him a license even after he himself admitted what he did.

I respect the commission for making sure to state that all he failed was the T/E bench mark and nothing else was in his system and they didn't believe he was abusing. Seeing those headlines flash and hearing those commentators jumping on him kinda hit me in the gut. Really dig The Reem and I wouldn't know how it would be if everyone called me everything under the sun when in the end it was just a foul up.
