Sergei Kharitonov won a fight by submission last night, and you didn’t even know

Russia truly is the last frontier when it comes to our popular “Lessons in Street MMA” series.  We see all sorts of techniques native to Eastern Europe that simply aren’t humanly possible in other places in the world.  In Russia, street MMA can sometimes involve firearms and dead bodies on the side of the road, while the rest of the town proceeds about their daily lives as thought absolutely nothing is up.  Where else in the world could we get an eclectic mix of MMA fighters like Datsik, Fedor, Kharitonov, and Shelmenko?  Well, M-1 is responsible for how the first couple turned out, but Kharitonov credits his career reinvention to training with Golden Glory.  They took his wild ways and translated that back into consistent performances.  It’s a bummer we didn’t get to see more of Sergei in Strikeforce.  On the flip side, we get to see him fight more often outside of US, even if that means fuzzy YouTube videos like this the following morning.  Props to mmarocks_pl  for the find.
