I adore leg kicks. I've written about it before, but I will remind the new guys: watching Marco Ruas chop down Paul Varleans at UFC 7 as a wide-eyed 12 year old changed something in me. I would spam the LK button at my local arcade on Mortal Kombat II, leading to many reset sprites flying through the air begging to be uppercutted (uppercat?) I would constantly low kick people off the elevated platforms in Virtua Fighter, and fast forward many years later - I open every fight in EA MMA with leg kicks and all I want to do is leg kick KO the guy across from me in UFC 3.

That's just the way it is, baby. Leg kicks.

So when Marco Ruas' protege Pedro Rizzo made his way into the UFC back in the day, I was excited to see him fight (I never saw UFC Brazil when he knocked out Tank Abbot until a few months ago.) Recently, I got comfy and rewatched the majority of Pedro's fights and they're as fun as I remember. His comeback split-decision win against Mark Coleman at UFC 18 is friggin' awesome. Look it up, Rizzo puts on one of the finest leg kick displays early MMA has ever seen. And his battles with Josh Barnett are legendary.

Not to get personal, or off the subject (I've been off the subject since the outset, actually) but I was at the press conference after Feijao lost the Strikeforce LHW title to Hendo, and Anderson Silva and Pedro Rizzo were in Feijao's corner. While fans flocked to get pictures with Anderson, Pedro looked stoically ahead, possibly with a twinge of sadness after reflecting on his glories past. Not a single person went up to him. I regret not approaching him and telling him what his leg kicks meant to me so many years ago, and still do.

Now tomorrow the greatest heavyweight of all time takes on Black House's elder statesman, and Fedor is the favorite -2000 to Rizzo's +1000. My heart hurts somewhat, but I'll get over it. I will also place a crisp $20 on that line.

Ah, Rizzo vs Barnett 2 was almost 4 years ago and Pedro still can't get any love. Thanks for giving him props and for showing Fedor love, too.

Actually though, my mother died in Afghanistan as an Army Nurse taking care of wounded soldiers. An IED hit the truck she was in while transporting a soldier who had been shot by a sniper, her mangled body burned in the wreckage until villagers could put out the fire using buckets of water. They sent only the peices that her DNA could identify home.
So I doubt anyone was stuffing her recently.






Just kidding, she is alive and fine, hell she is probably getting stuffed with pork chops right now. It still does t change the fact that Fedor is Bellator caliber now.

I cannot believe some people on the UG (can't post cuz I'm currently banned...But they still blame Fedor for not being in the UFC, and not leaving M1...Do they not understand how serious Russian Mafia is? Puttin isn't a fucking a president. He's a dictator that calls himself a president, kinda like ours but 10000000x worse. QFT x 10. Russia is alot like Japan in its political and Criminal orgs being one an the same, more or less. Fedor has looked good since his losses, and still can/could hang with the UFC's elite almost guaranteed. But he'll never sign off on the contract with them being locked in an having to sign away their likeness rights et al. Which no fighter should have to do, sell your soul for rock n roll!!.
And Im still in the camp of saying that guys like Fedor, Shogun, Wandy an Rampage have taken a hit due to the Rule changes. The unified are to inhibiting, not giving the fighters a chance to unleash. Having to worry about accidently kicking/kneeing a grounded opponent has to throw you off after years of just going for the kill.
Also if you get the Fight Network, M1 is on it started at Noon, but there down due to tech. difficulties :/ Oh yeah WAR FEDOR!!!
