Somewhere in Florida, Hector Lombard's pre-fight bath salts are sitting alone on the foyer, next to his toothbrush and eye drops. The middleweight horror show that was middleweight champion in Bellator was nowhere to be found tonight at UFC 149, and Lombard was very narrowly defeated by Tim Boetsch because of it.

Although Lombard landed his fair share of stiff shots, Boetsch, like an angry stepfather finding swiped porno magazines under the mattress, refused to wilt to what offense Lombard had to throw at him, and that much was all Boetsch needed to secure the demystifying win. Both men, with acidosis burning their muscles, were showered by the boos of the bored crowd, then Boetsch received the split decision over Hector Lombard.

One thing is for certain on this night; Alexander Shlemenko just took a shot of vodka and Bjorn Rebney is cackling maniacally, the silhouette of a Winnebago behind him.

All Tim did was bounce around on his feet, giving the impression that he was the fresher fighter.

Boetsch is the one who won by lucky punch against Okami after getting mauled for most of the fight. I didn't expect much from him but Lombard was comming into this fight with a lot of expectation. Lombard blew it a big time and that's why I'm more disappointed at him. Therefore, Lombard deserved the loss more.

If by "hone his skills" you mean, "take copious amounts of steroids and study voodo" maybe your onto something... if not... then I'd venture to say you're a Lombard fan boy who gets a boner from heavy punches... Lumbard hits really hard... when the target is a shitty fighter that stands flat footed in front of him with no head moment... However, now that he needs to actually have skill in the stand up (and not just overwhelming power) its going to be long hard road for a fighter as dumb as Lumbard (lets not kid ourselves... he is no masterful tactician or strategist in there)

His record comes from his size and power, not his raw skill which is clearly what is required in the UFC (because everyone else is a fucking tank too)

Lombard won last night. May have been UFC debut gitters, or his respect for Boestch, but I suspect he was trying to adapt to the contemporary UFC "game plan" era.

Who knows? Perhaps Tim was BSing post fight when he said the teep was working in keeping distance . . . All I know was the fight was fucking horrid and Lombard should have just taken him out in round 1 or 2 when he had the chance

Get rid of the judges, get rid of decisions. If you don't win, if the ref doesn't stop the fight and both guys are conscious at the end, it should just be considered a draw.

Instate that rule and fighters will only be able to win through aggression.

To be completely fair Lombard landed the best strikes of the fight, in round one the kick in the ribs, and the bit of ground and pound, in round two he clipped him once, and in round three he got a beautiful slam. I like The Barbarian too, but he did nothing in that fight at all. If I was him I would challenge that loss with the commission and see what happens.
