Before any of you start throwing poisonous darts and swinging halberds towards my neck region, Hector Lombard is coming off the Frate Trane list. Also, shame on any of you that have been insisting that it's spelled 'freight train.' Look, I have no idea what those words mean. You have a better chance communicating with me in Arabic. The concept of 'pound-for-pound' does not exist. The MMA universe operates on a physical law of the 'Frate Trane.' Nothing else in this world even matters.

You're probably still feeling the aftershock from this past weekend at UFC 149 when Hector Lombard was split-decisioned by Tim Boetsch, effectively igniting Lombard's Frate Trane in a fiery explosion of 'Dude, WTF?' We know it was a boring fight, and we know the MMA world thinks that Hector should move down in weight. Well, jokes on you. Lombard doesn't plan on doing it, as evidenced by this recent Tweet from the former Bellator middleweight champion.

I've felt this way about him for an extremely long time. Lumbard's success comes from his power, not skill, he stands flat footed infront of opponents with little head movement and hopes they charge blindly into his crazy power (which for some reason they have been doing lately)... This is the UFC now dawg. Time to evolve or fade away....

...or because Boetsch is top 10 at this point and still undefeated at middleweight... He beat Okami and now Lombard. (Most rankings had him around 8 or 9 before beating Lombard.)

Lombard loses a controversial split-decision and all Zuffa lackies feel justified to hate on another fighter that was well known before the UFC.

Remember, this was s SPLIT decision loss. I wonder what the war cry be had there been a different judge that day scoring in favor of Lombard.
Its amazing what one vote does to popular opinion..you guys are all fucking tools who dont see the bigger picture.

i think people set there expectations a little two high on Lombard the way joe rogan and ufc hyped this fight meant that anything less of a first round knockout and we would be disappointed. i though lombard won all three rounds the only one that could have went either way was the first. i thought hector looked good when boetsh wasn't running away, landed some good punches, power take downs, excellent take down defence and hurt him with a body kick. lets not throw him under the bus yet, if he got the decision win (which he should of) then we would be saying that Lombard can go the distance and he can grind out a win when needed.every fight cant be a finish and just because he didn't finish a tough fighter in botesh and that joe rogan talkes a bit of shit doesn't mean he had that bad of a showing.

I'm glad someone finally mentioned Joe talking shit...I'm a huge Rogan fan, his podcasts are awesome...But lately he's been a complete and utter dick. I think him and Brian Redban have been hanging out too much, either that or he's drinking again. He's acting like a complete tool. He's starting to talk shit and get opinionated with his commentary. I wish they would just make Mauro Renallo and Bas Rutten AND Goldie...That would be the best commentary in the sport.

Dude, exposed? It's not like Boestch beat him up, he was running away the ENTIRE fight. Hector litterly didn't back up a centimeter, you need to watch it again and stop hopping on the internet hipster opinion so fast. Hector hurt him with every single shot, and he easily took him down in the 3rd, imho he won the fight. The fight sucked, it was uneventful as shit, but part of that was Boestch's fault as well, for not meeting in the center like he usually does, he pulled a Condit....I'm sick of these fighters scared to fight so they make a 'gameplan' a fuckin gameplan just means you're gonna either cagefuck or groundfuck or runawayfuck like a little sissy bitch. It's a fight, you can't gameplan for a fight. A very broad gameplan, but Couture did it with the fence, Fitch does it with the ground, and Guida does it on the feet...Other people are catching on, but only for certain fights, when they know they'll lose all of the sudden they have a 'movement' gameplan. Pathetic.

What are you dillweeds talking about? Got exposed by a sub-top 10 UFC opponent? How many clean shots to the face did Boestch land? How many takedowns? Who looked stronger in the clinch? This was a simple case of poor execution. I believe, like most others, that Hector won the fight, but he definitely deserves another shot against a top 10 MW. I have a good feeling his next performance will be impressive.

Lombard won this fight. As lackluster as the performance was he did most of the damage and should of of won. Poor judging as it is always on display in the UFC took the win from Lombard. He'll be back.

Boetsch didn't do damage, but neither did Lombard. Maybe you should watch the fight again, but Boetsch out-landed Lombard 19-9, 16-10, and 19-7 in significant strikes.

So rounds 2 and 3 maybe not so clearly for Lombard.

Mini Timmah didn't hurt Lombard who was controlling the fight...Lombard made Boetsh back up and visually scream in pain from a liver kick then in the thrid black Scarface dropped him on his head with a takedown

People forget compustrikes "significant strikes" are only one person with a website's opinion.

Remember Condit's bloodied face and compare do Diaz's intact.

Somehow compustrike also gave Condit more "significant" strikes.

I still dont get what it meant by that, as they were never connecting, Diaz never showed he felt them and there was no significant damage done to him.

Basically this is what I saw in the fight...round 1 Boetsch got hurt by a toe kick, it ended with some Lombard ground and pound. Clearly round 1 goes to Lombard. Round 2 Boetsch got the best of him, but only by a few petty leg kicks. Round 3 was close, and Lombard landed a great take down. Round is arguably a draw, but I was leaning towards giving it to Lombard as Tim landed on his head.

Regardless the fight sucked, and both fighters looked bad.

Let's stop acting as if he was the only fighter to ever put on a disappointing fight, for fucks sake remember Jake Shields fighting GSP?

Lombard's right here, Dana's wrong. Lombard's size wasn't a problem in this fight or in any other fight. And I'd still say he won the fight because no matter how little he did, Boetsch did even less. Did Lombard get exposed? Not really, we didn't see him get dominated, destroyed, or have any real weaknesses in his game exposed. The real reason he should come off the Frate Trane list and possibly even why he deserved to have his winning streak cut short is because that performance was shitty for no goddamn good reason. To be considered an undefeated Frate Traner you have to dominate every fight.

Akiyama moves like a robot and throws one power shot at a time while using his stong Judo base to keep the fight standing. Akiyama experienced big success dominating and knocking out people outside of the UFC (but you wouldn't know that apparently as Hector supposedly has so much more power). Akiyama rode a big hype train and gets to the UFC and is exposed by the upper echelon of the division. He drops down to 170 where he is destined to join his Cuban Doppleganger... Hector Lombard!

I would like to say that while I think he should drop to 170, it's not a knowck at Hector. I legitimitely think he may threathen even GSP at WW, as his base MIGHT just be good enough to keep it standing and he does have ko power. The alternative is to stay at MW, and it is really hard seeing him (even with drastic improvement) not being added to the Spider's highlight reel if they meet. Can we at least agree on that?

Lombard gave Boestch too much respect, if he turned it on he wouldn't have gotten clipped like he was thinking during the fight, he would have beat the shit out of Tim. But he couldn't realize that until he was out of the cage and looked at it from an outside view, he knows it was a shitty fight. He'll come back and perform in beast mode.
