It's tough seeing your favorite fighter, a guy who has the talent to be a long reigning champ, not fight to his potential.Props to Vera for fighting his ass off, and really doing his best.

I think Shogun needs a good strength and conditioning coach, and a really tough camp. I feel like when he's in Brazil, he might be a big fish in a small pond training in Curitiba. The reason why he was so brilliant in his early career (besides being healthy) was because of how tough Chute Box was. It forged him into the fucking killer in Pride.
No disrespect to Vera, but a 100% Shogun would've won that fight in round 2. I think injuries has slowed him down, but I believe that's not all.

I doubt Shogun will ever be the unstoppable dynamo he was at his peak in PRIDE FC, but it's still amazing watching him fight.

He get's hit with bombs that would topple lesser fighters and is never really in trouble, at least in comparison to his peers. Even when Vera (Who is a beast in his own right) was tagging him I didn't fear Rua was out of it at all. He's a legend, not even debilitating knee injuries can take that from him

Shogun doesn't need a new conditioning coach or work on his fucking 'gastank'... Use your fucking heads you nerds. He is a muscular human who was swinging with everything he had looking for his KO. Obviously tiring himself out, thats his style, he goes harder than most all fighters. Tried finishing Vera like three times. It went 4 rounds. He put mad pressure on. You nerds might not know this.. but it takes muscles to move your limbs, and blood needs to flow there. It is difficult to get so much oxygen to all places in your body, especially while getting hit in the face and body. I thought Shogun looked less flabby and tired than he usually does (except while in Pride on the roids). Soooo what Im getting at is that you're dumb and Shogun swings to kill he doesnt exactly sit back and pick his shots - hard pace to keep. The fact that Vera has been shitty probably clouds your judgement... 'Shogun couldnt finish that bum in the first when he had him hurt, Yeah he gassed hard'. Get the fuck outta hur with that shiet. Shogun is dope and can go five rounds. And yes - Jones would still murder him.

Shogun had a few knee surgeries, in a row. That'll take it's toll on anybody. He's a great fighter but you can't reverse injuries & father time. Vera looked good, he was bringing it. I hope this is a sign of how he fights from here on out. He had a serious look in his eyes when they were exchanging & he was throwing nice combos followed by some nice leg kicks, he just came up short. It's good to see him back.
