Whew, sorry for the lack of updates on MiddleEasy today. I was lost in the middle of Mexico without a phone signal and stranded for hours inside the closest thing Mexico has to a 'ghetto.' When I finally recovered my car (long story), I managed to navigate to the Mexican-American border only to go through the wrong immigration line and be detained in a metal cage while I was interrogated. I don't even know what day it is anymore, but I do know that I need to bring you guys as much MMA news as possible until I pass out this evening from absolute exhaustion -- so let's get started.

Anderson Silva's legacy exists somewhere at the end of time, lingering at the edge of eternity to serve as evidence that a species of humanoids existed and a man named 'Anderson Silva' held the greatest genetic combination any human being ever attained in the history of the species. The truth is, Chris Weidman isn't Anderson Silva's biggest threat. The Spider's biggest threat is a fully-loaded gun held directly at his head. Granted, Anderson would probably just dodge the bullets and look ridiculously cool doing so. For the sake of the UFC middleweight division, we'll believe that Weidman is the highest contender Anderson Silva can face and therefore everything he mentioned during today's UFC Q&A holds remarkable relevance. He may well be the biggest threat to Silva, and Machida may well be the biggest threat to Jon Jones. Neither are likely to win, such is the gap between the champ and contenders at MW and LHW.

There's no doubt about it he's a tough sob, but Demain Maia looked like shit in that fight, one of his worsts ever, and Munoz looked bad that night too. Two people having off nights doesn't mean shit because Anderson never has an off night. I think Bisping could take Weidman, in fact I think he'd KO Weidman.

Actually, Anderson has had off nights and he's still crushed. The bigger point is Soares is correct when he says the fight isn't right for Ando. Silva has virtually nothing to gain from beating Weidman aside from another W. Meanwhile a win for Chris makes him a champion, gives him the biggest payday he's ever had and likely will, and gives him a win over the UFC GOAT that no one will ever be able to take from him. If I was Silva I'd snub this guy, he should clear out the top in the div then get his fight. Weidman vs Bisping/Stann, and if he wins give him Bisping. Also Lombard should drop top 170, get better cardio, and wreck that div

Except that it isn't an no one agrees with you. For the last time, it's the fight business. When you get in Ando's position it becomes about building legacy and capitalizing off of your success. The UFC also wants to generate money from it too, Weidman would be a solid fight, but not as good as a superfight with Jones or a legend. I'm a Diaz fan, but doesn't think he deserves Silva, but even that fight makes more $en$e

Yes, he's the biggest threat.
But as far as Anderson goes, it doesn't matter.

The MW division has been comparatively weak for quite a long time now.

It's the same reason that welterweight fights that don't start GSP seem to be pretty even. Jon Jones is starting to go that way as well.

LW - title changes a lot/has multiple contenders
WW - GSP, then everyone else
MW - Silva, then everyone else (all 4 of them)
LHW - Jons and Hendo (maybe), then everyone else
HW - title changes a lot/has multiple contenders
