Mike Goldberg is a permanent UFC fixture. Despite saying something nonsensical, even bordering on insane, during every UFC broadcast, he will likely die Octagon-side. He is the father of such exchanges as:
Mike Goldberg: “He’s got him in some kind of strange choke I’ve never seen before!”
Joe Rogan: “That’s a rear naked choke.”
And
Mike Goldberg: “You can hear the corner speaking Portuguese!”
Joe Rogan: “Uh, that’s Japanese, brother”
Mike Goldberg: “I should have known that.”
Joe Rogan: “You’re the one married to a Japanese chick.”
Mike Goldberg: “That is correct.”
He has dubbed Travis Lutter the “Michael Jordan of Jiu-Jitsu,” and when Jens “Lil’ Evil” Pulver knocked out John Lewis, he exclaimed “Little Eagle flies again!”
Despite all that, someone in the FOX executive office saw untapped talent. And on Sunday, Goldie talked my Minnesota Vikings through an embarrassing loss to the Detroit Lions. Mookie Alexander at Bloodyelbow compiled some of the Twitter reactions.
I don’t want to pick on Fox’s Mike Goldberg but he’s misidentified more players today than I can ever remember from any NFL play-by-play man

Fox’s Mike Goldberg just said of a pass Teddy Bridgewater threw, “The intended receiver was Golden Tate.” They’re not on the same team, Mike

“The ball is deflected… NOPE! Still in his hand.” – Mike Goldberg

Goldberg – “4th and 17….pardon me, 4th and 5” Wow. don’t know how you mess that up. #Vikings #Lions

Brandon Ayanbadejo – “Negative play.” Mike Goldberg – “Negative play indeed.” Great contribution. #Vikings #Lions

UFC fans, enjoy that surge of hipster-esque pride, knowing you have listened to Goldie talk this way for years. It’s kind of like that weird backwards thrill I get watching the Vikings lose almost every Sunday.
